Uninet

The Uninet is the primary data network of the galaxy. The Uninet affects every human and Prime in a connected planet. Everything is interconnected, a human could be buying shoes in the Outer Sphere world of Greendawn while viewing a show broadcasting from Novus Aether, checking out a slog by a Prime on Gar'tub or reading an hourly written on Waterhouse.

Overview

The ansibles allowed the development of a truly interstellar technological network, providing total connection of all the cyberspheres. As colonies spread to interstellar locations, the ansibles tied the cyberspheres together. This soon formed a vast and extremely powerful network referred to as the Uninet. An immense amount of knowledge and information is available on the Uninet, with trillions and trillions of zettabytes of data in the datapools. Unrestricted access, at least to a certain point, of information is the chief attraction of the Uninet.

Any world with a cybersphere and an ansible is connected to the Uninet; anyone connected to the world’s cybersphere can explore the Uninet. If someone has an s-link unit and a form of optronics or display contacts, they can be wirelessly accessing information from anywhere in the galaxy. A relative can send a family member a tell or a wave or even engage in a real-time auditory or visual conversation. There is no lag in the Uninet, ever.

Nodes

The Uninet is full of ‘nodes’, various places hosted in a variety of servers or in datapools that comprise of information. These ‘nodes’ contain all kinds of information, including media channels. Nodes function as a custom designed place, taking on whatever presentation media desired, that present information. Nodes can funcation as entertainment or news channels, presenting shows or other scheduled broadcasting events. Most data gathering is done via trawling and not ‘visiting’ nodes. All users have some form of text, auditory, visual and holographic messenger services, including private nodes to store data.

These nodes are also programed for graphical appearence in the Hive. There are default settings for a node's appearence unless the node administrator designs it otherwise. Nodes are usually represented by a building, with datapools taking the place of file cabinents, etc.
