Republic of East Indies

Formed from India and other Southeastern Asian nations, including Mayalsia, the REI is a developing power with around seven worlds, three of which are Outer Sphere and fully developed. Another five worlds have been targeted by the REI for colonization in seven to ten years. The Republic has a massive population and it's Outer Sphere worlds are dealing with a current overpopulation problem. Many experts point to the REI as an emerging contender as a stellarpower.

The Republic's economy is mostly centered around agricultural products and technological services. Several technology megacorps are based in REI and critical datapool technology has been developed by East Indie firms. Well-known universities ensure that REI's economy and technological prowess will be strong for generations to come. The majority of East Indie citizens are low-income generators, but only by a slim margin. A slightly smaller middle-class exists, with the few wealthy individuals of the East Indies being corporate executives.

The military of REI is limited. The Republican Defense Forces have a reduced ability to strike beyond their own borders. Nonetheless, they contribute a large amount of ground troops and atmospheric sky forces to Covenant Earth.

Culture of the Republic stems from its important religious centers. Hinduism, Sikhism, Isalm and Buddahism are all important in the East Indies.
